Recollection of the Mahatma


So inspiring and encouraging to see our youth re-discover the "Mahatma"
Deer Park Institute has hosted a 2 day festival remembering "Mahatma Gandhi" on his birthday. Prabodh Parikh (Poet, Art and Film Critic) is leading us to experience and taste the wisdom and simplicity of the "Mahatma" through Films, photographs, paintings, music and his recorded speeches.


To commemorate Gandhi Jayanti, which is a national holiday celebrated in India to mark the occasion of the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the "Father of the Nation". It is celebrated on October 2, every year. It is one of the three official declared National Holidays of India and is observed in all its states and union territories. The United Nations General Assembly announced on 15 June 2007 that it adopted a resolution which declared that October 2 will be celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence.

Over 200 students from local schools participated, along with 75 students from different parts of the world also joined in the screenings, exhibits and talks.
